The Little Jesus Chronicles

Stories created by kids for kids about a boy named Jesus, His dog Wolfie, and their friends and cousins growing up in Nazareth

The Little Jesus Chronicles

Our Back Story

We were getting ready for bed after a busy Saturday while grownup guests were still downstairs. First we talked about our plans for Sunday morning. As we discussed bedtime story options, my oldest GrandLittle Viviana asked about growing up in Israel before quickly adding “what was it like for Little Jesus growing up?” I told her we didn’t know much about His childhood. In disbelief, she asked to hear the Bible story of Little Jesus losing his first tooth.

“Oh, Vivi,” I answered. “We don’t have those stories.”

In the conversation that followed, we talked about the Dead Sea Scrolls and fancy jars, caves and treasure seekers, and the stories that make up the Old and New Testaments.

“Maybe the explorers just haven’t found all the jars,” Vivi suggested and then continued. “I know! We should write stories about the life that Little Jesus might have had — just in case other kids wonder about Him, too.”

She hurried downstairs to announce to all the grownup that we were launching a book company to share stories about Little Jesus.

And that, my friend, is where this idea originated. Viviana, Olivia (GrandLittle 2), and I are beyond proud of our stories. We fact-checked to ensure our details are as accurate as possible to the likely experience of a Jewish boy around 5 CE in Israel.

I am thrilled that the girls have a newfound affinity for Little Jesus. Through these stories, they have learned cultural aspects and values that I know will help them be better little humans — and someday better big humans. Thank you for spending your time reading this intro. Now I invite you to spend a little time checking out our storybooks!

About Our Books

Each story is around 1200 words — technically a short story.

Each is beautifully illustrated.

We use no AI in the creation of our books!

Books are available in English and Spanish! Did we mention no AI? So the translation is accurate and grammatically correct.

Books are available in paperback as well as hard cover. Hard cover is a terrific investment for a keepsake item. This is especially true for Little Jesus and the Bethlehem Birthday which may get tucked away with holiday decor and brought back out seasionaly for years to come!

Littles who are reading at second grade level will do well with these on their own — needing only occasionally prompts for some of the bigger words.

Littles and Bigs will enjoy the opportunity to imagine Little Jesus as truly embodying John 1:14 “the Word became man and dwelt among us.”

Each book includes a glossary of a handful words — usually Hebrew — that enrich the story.

Likewise, each book includes a regional map.

Family tree? Yes, we all love to trace our ancestors. Our books include a family tree of the people known to be related to Abba Joseph and Imma Mary. When featured in a story, we include them in the family tree. And if one set of grandparents is included, you can bet we’ll include both sets for clarity.

I Spy. Our authors Viviana and Olivia love I Spy games. Viviana Camille’s nickname is Chameleon. Olivia Francine’s nickname is Oleebug. Each story includes 7 scenes in which Cham the Chameleon and Olee the Ladybug are featured. See if your Little can spot them! This also provides another lesson in compatibility. In the real world, the chameleon may have devoured the ladybug though it might have tummy issues. Once again, this is a teachable moment as families can discuss the relationship between the Lion and the Lamb — from the different roles of Jesus to the belief from Isaiah 11:6 that the future holds a time of peace on Earth where predators and prey will live together peacefully.

Little Jesus Fan Club Commemorative Art Page. Viviana and Olivia take turns in each book sharing their own artwork that depicts one of the story’s scenes. Space is provided for your Little to add their own special memory to the book.

So you see, our books aren’t simply one dimensional. There is much, much to do and even more to ponder. The deep, rich lessons in values are supported by historical and cultural elements that will bless young and old alike with a broader understanding of the world in Jesus’ time.
